2018 Nicholson Jones Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Ample baking spices on the nose mingle with cherry and blackberry preserves, licorice, floral aromas, and wet stone. Layered red and black fruits are replete on the pallet showing chewy tannins, good acid, and a velvety mouthfeel that resolves with freshness on the back palate. The complex structure and largess of this wine benefits from several hours of air bringing the acid, fruit, and tannin into equilibrium, yielding more voluptuous perfume on the nose as well as soft vanilla back notes. The finish is unsurprisingly a very long one and suggests great aging potential, though this cabernet's ripe fruit component makes it very easy to enjoy at present.
