The 2019 vintage from the Sleeping Lady Vineyard in Yountville offers thrilling power, rich textures, and impressive aging potential. Dark and inky, the nose reveals itself slowly, with notes of cedar, gravel, and earth building into aromas of mocha, blue fruit, and a touch of saddle leather. The palate opens into a deep, intense core of blue and purple fruit shaded with warm mocha, and edged by notes of caramel and mixed berry pie. Very fine, blackcurrant-scented tannins are tightly woven in an elegant frame to support the full-bodied concentration. The powerful finish lasts several minutes with lingering notes of river rocks, mocha, and savory wild blueberry.
